What is Micro Needling?
Micro Needling is an effective and affordable combination of four therapies designed to improve wrinkles, fine lines, acne, acne scars, brown spots, enlarged pores, dry skin, and uneven pigmentation. The treatment is customized to your unique skin using one machine to deliver:
Microdermabrasion is used first to remove the coarse, flaky outer layer of dead skin cells and leave your skin smooth and polished. Then Micro Needling is performed.
Micro Needling, a form of Collagen Induction Therapy that regenerates the surface texture and tone of your skin. Micro Needling painlessly creates thousands of tiny channels in your skin that extend below the epidermis. Your body responds to these controlled injuries by producing more collagen and elastin, reducing the appearance of scars, stretch marks, and fine lines.
Infusion of serums specifically tailored for one of four treatments:
- Anti-Aging: A cocktail of five peptides specifically designed to create new collagen and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
- Hydration: Infusing hyaluronic acid into the skin to produce immediate, long lasting, “super” hydration of the skin.
- Lightening: Kojic Acid: a proven skin lightener with no toxic issues, gently evens out the pigments in the skin.
- Acne: Lactic and salicylic acids exfoliate the skin, open clogged pores, kill acne bacteria, and increase collagen production.
As the micro needling process creates the channels into the dermis, the serum is simultaneously infused to exactly the point where it is most effective. LED (Light Emitting Diode) Therapy with either red frequencies to reduce inflammation, yellow frequencies for additional collagen stimulation, or blue frequencies to reduce acne breakouts. The powerful LED’s require only 4-6 minutes of application and the built-in CoolBreeze air flow keeps you cool and comfortable.
Micro Needling provides many of the same benefits as fractional laser skin resurfacing but to a lesser degree. The depth of the microchannels is shallower, there is less heat deposited into the lower dermis for collagen stimulation, and no tissue is vaporized or removed. For moderate corrections, this can be an advantage because the cost is lower and there are fewer potential side effects. In fact, we often recommend Mirco Needling to extend and preserve the benefits of a series of fractional laser skin resurfacing treatments.
How does Micro Needling work?
The treatment begins with you and your skin care nurse deciding on the serum and LED frequency most effective for your unique skin. After cleansing the skin, a light microdermabrasion removes the rough outer layers of dead skin and the skin is lightly cleansed again. The micro needling process creates the microchannels that stimulate the production of new collagen and simultaneously places precisely the right amount of serum into each channel. This is followed by 4-6 minutes of LED therapy to complete the treatment. The micro needling process is illustrated by the diagram at the right, as explained below:
A precision-controlled hand piece (shown at the immediate right) rolls across the skin. The roller at the tip of the handpiece has hundreds of micro-needles for most treatments but for broken skin, a massaging tip without needles is used. The handpiece has an insertable cartridge containing the tailored infusion serum that you and your skin care nurse chose.
The tip of the handpiece exerts vacuum pressure that pulls the skin into contact with the micro-needles and painlessly creates microchannels through the epidermis and into the papillary layer. Vacuum-assisted occlusion places the skin under tension for a pain-free treatment. More importantly, it assists the needle tips to penetrate uniformly to maximize the delivery of the infusion serums into the upper dermis (papillary layer).
The microchannels create pathways for placing the infusion serums at the most beneficial depth for the natural rejuvenating process.
The depth of the needles has been carefully selected so that the channels are created just below the dermal-epidermal junction and just above capillaries and nerve endings. This ensures no bleeding or pain.
What are the benefits of Mirco Needling?
- Reduces wrinkles, fine lines, scars, stretch marks, uneven pigmentation, sun damage, and large pores.
- Provides noticeable improvement within a few days of the initial treatment and significant improvement after a series of six treatments.
- The treatments are very cost effective.
- There is no bruising, infection, discoloration, sun sensitivity, or other known side effects after treatment.
- Extremely high absorption rates of the topical serums.
- Thickens the dermis without removing or damaging the epidermis.
- It is safe for all skin types and colors.
What results can you expect?
Most people will begin to see improvement the day after their first treatment. However, a series of six treatments is required to retain those benefits. By the end of the series of treatments, you should see fuller, smoother skin with more even skin tone. If raised scars were treated, the amount of scar tissue should be reduced. Acne scars or other depressed scars will be less noticeable because of the new collagen created immediately below the scars.
How many treatments do you need?
Six treatments at two to four week intervals are required to create the cumulative benefits of new collagen and elastin below the skin and new skin regenerated by repairing the micro channels.
